Sojourner's Place

sunday inspirations...the angels keep on watching

Posted by SjP in

Behold, I send an angel before you to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place that I have prepared. Pay careful attention to him and obey his voice; do not rebel against him, for he will not pardon your transgression, for my name is in him. But if you carefully obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. When my angel goes before you and brings you to the Amorites and the Hittites and the Perizzites and the Canaanites, the Hivites and the Jebusites, and I blot them out...
Exodus 23:20-23

Everyday, God dispatches His angels to watch over us - to protect us - to guide us. He does so because loves us unconditionally and because He's not through with us, yet. But because we - operating under our own understanding - won't be still, won't listen, and won't walk in the steps He has ordered for us He sends the angles to watch over us.

I invite you to listen to the following rendition of "The Angels Keep Watching Over Me" by Ray Charles the Voices of Jubilation Gospel Choir, Newark New Jersey. Clicking the picture below, however, will take you directly to the video so you might want to finish reading this Sunday Inspirations post before watching if you are so inclined.

In searching for Ray Charles singing "The Angels Keep Watching Over Me", I found a site that claims to name your Guardian Angel. Now, part of me believes that if God wanted me to know the name of my own personal Guardian Angel he would probably not use Google to do so. But, since I also know that the "Lord works in mysterious ways", He may just be trying to tell me something. So, it appears that my Guardian is the Archangel Gabriel who is the bearer of God's secret messages to His chosen ones. He is the Angel who announced to the Blessed Virgin Mary God's plan for her to be the Mother of His Son, Jesus (Luke 1:19). He was also the Angel who foretold to Daniel the end of the world. (Dan. 8:19; 9:21).

The Archangel Jhudiel is known as the Archangel of God's Merciful Love, is Senator Obama's Guardian Angel. It is the Archangel of those born on Friday. Jhudiel is usually depicted with a flaming heart or the Sacred Heart in hand which stresses the Christian concept of loving and adoring Jesus.

Who is your Guardian Angel? You may find out here.

Obliged to you for hearing me,
and now old SjP ain't got nothin' more to say...

God Bless You! Thank you for that prayer ... I know that I need an angel or three to look over my sorry butt! I'm heading off to see the name of my guardian angel...

Thank you for visiting my blog earlier today. I invite your blog readers to to consider the biblical implications of the death penalty and read a great poem for Troy Davis as part of my Sunday Inspirations meme entry this week.

Although I am not of your experience I have found a place of comfort here from the storms that lash against us all as humans trying to find our way in a world we will never fully understand.

It's a comforting reminder that God is always looking out for us and walks with us through it all.
