Sojourner's Place

sunday inspirations...what was jesus?

Posted by SjP in ,

Many of contemplated and even argued the ethnicity of Jesus. Was he white or Black in color? Was his hair curly, straight, or on the side of kinky? Well, I ran across the following arguments, over at Philippe Paquette, that suggest that Jesus was Black, or Jewish, or Italian, or Native American, or native Californian, or Irish, or yes, even a woman.

Reading these arguments just reinforces my thoughts regarding the sense of humor of our Lord and just how omnipotent He is in being "all things to all people"

Enjoy!

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was Black:

1. He called everyone brother
2. He liked Gospel
3. He didn't get a fair trial
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Jewish:
1. He went into His Father's business
2. He lived at home until he was 33
3. He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his Mother was sure He was God
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Italian:

1. He talked with His hands
2. He had wine with His meals
3. He used olive
oil

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was a Californian:
1. He never cut His hair
2. He walked around barefoot all the time
3. He started a new religion
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was an American Indian:
1. He was at peace with nature
2. He ate a lot of fish
3. He talked about the Great Spirit
But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish:
1. He never got married
2. He was always telling stories
3. He loved green pastures
But the most compelling evidence of all - 3 proofs that Jesus was a woman:
1. He fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was virtually no food
2. He kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it
3. And even when He was dead, He had to get up because there was still work to do.

Must say that these arguments did give me a bit of a chuckle. But, I really don't care much about what Jesus looked like or His gender. I do, however, care a great deal about who JESUS IS. So I end this Inspirational Sunday post with WHO JESUS IS (NOT WAS)!

JESUS IS
the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. John 6:51

JESUS IS
from above. I am of this world; HE is not. John 8:23

JESUS IS
the light of the world. He who follows HIM shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life. John 8:12

JESUS IS
the door. If anyone enters by HIM, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. John 10:9

JESUS IS
the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. John 10:11

JESUS IS
Son of God. John 10:36

JESUS IS
the resurrection and the life. He who believes in HIM, though he may die, he shall live. John 11:25

JESUS IS
the true vine, and HIS FATHER is the vinedresser. John 15:1

JESUS IS
the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through HIM. John 14:6

Have a Blessed Day!

God would seem to have an odd sense of humor. He would probably make Jesus to be what ever most people would hate. Imagine the irony of a Klansman asking a Black or a Jew for eternal salvation.

Those arguments to race were pretty funny.

UBJohn, I think God has an odd and ironic sense of humor. I wonder if Klansmen ever really think about that when they call themselves Christian? Not that's ironic and really funny!

LOL!!!
