obama suggestion box: correction!

Posted by SjP in , ,

** Correction! The Obama Suggestion Box is not affiliated with the White House, the Obama Administration, or any political party or movement. I deeply apologize for not thoroughly investigating this site before announcing it as another electronic initiative of the Obama Administration. Other than that, however, I do believe that this site can prove to be very helpful and informative when looking at the issues facing Americans today.

Once again, I apologize for my error. ~~ SjP

The Obama Administration has recently made it easier for Americans to offer suggestions and provide comments on issues and concerns of importance to them. The Obama Suggestion Box has the look and feel of an online community that allows you to "make your opinion known to President Obama and the White House". Suggestions and comments may be posted under ccategories such as Government Administration, Economy, Health, War, and Education to name a few.

To register for the OSB, you only need to provide a username, password, and email address. Although, it may take quite a bit of time to receive your activation email, once received you'll be able to view both the popular and new suggestions posted as well as submit your own and or comment on suggestions.

And because there is strength in numbers, you may even join and create groups of special interest to you.For example, Mimi Lenox of Mimi Writes and the originator of Blogblasts for Peace, will be testing that strength at OSB. She is currently awaiting confirmation of Blogblasts for Peace Group as a way of showing the President that there are over 1400 Peace Globes from 46 countries calling for unity and peace. With two Peace Globes, Sojourner's Place is so proud and pleased to be a part of this effort that this third globe was created specifically for the suggestion box.

In the "spirit of true Democracy", I encourage all Sojourners to register for the Obama Suggestion Box and let your voices be heard.

Obliged to you for hearing me,
and now old SjP ain't got nothin' more to say...

I dont know about this...it feels gimicky.

I think that if there is an organized block of suggestions that good ideas would be considered.

I wish that clnmike was available to respond to my question. Why does it seem gimmicky.

Obama is our first true technology President. As I understand it, he wants to use the power of the internet to keep in touch with people.

I think that we have been out of touch with our national leadership for too long. Now that we have the opportunity to have input-we really need to use it.

I hope he has some ideas of his own and doesn't just go with what's popular.
But it DOES seem like a good way to keep in touch with what's really going on in our country.

1- It makes me feel that the President doesnt know what he is doing when he is asking the citizens suggestions to run the counrty. It was his outside the box thinking that got him into office now he is out of ideas?

2- This would have been a good idea before he got to office where he had time to actually review ideas.

3- Ideas are not the problem implementing the change against the GOP block in congress is the real deal. And having the guts to make the tough calls.

We know the economic problem will not go away if we dont have a new cash crop to sell like cannibus, or jobs being shipped over seas, the money pit which is Iraq, national health care plan, unions, wall street saleries, on and on.

He knows what to do and he has the best advisors to to come up with ideas.

4- The peole have been telling goverment what they want for years!

Jobs, education, low taxes, saftey, health care, cost of living, the very basics.

5- Not everyone's plan or desires are good ones. Which means some one is going to get paid to shift through the BS and test the pulse of the people.

6- Not every aspect of people's lives should be given up to consideration by the goverment. A lot of what people want can be handles on the community, county and state level. Those are the people who need the suggestion box because they are the ones that hold us hostage to local interest.

The only thing I ask is that the goverment provide avenues to circumvent local and state goverments that play bipartisan politics like in the case of Atlanta were the mayor was able to request funding for vital constrction projects that our own govenor refused to sign off on.

First of all....your peace globe is stunning. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I appreciate the shout out. I have succeeded in registering BlogBlast For Peace as a group (only one of 4)and it is now open for members to join.
Here is the link!

clnmike: There actually was a transition website before the election ended and the administration took suggestions and ideas there as well.
I personally like the open-door policy that is in place. Mr. Obama knows how to harness the power of the internet. We have done that with peace globes. Our goal is to stir the dialogue to a peaceful "commotion"....smile.

Thank you, SjP. You are awesome! I can't wait to get this in the gallery and post about this (I will certainly use your globe as an example!)

Please go here to join the group!

First, let me apologize once again to each of you and especially to Mimi for this post announcing the Obama Suggestion Box. It was simply a case of me not reading the fine print and checking out the "about us" link provided on the site.

But, having said that - I still think it could be used as an effective tool to help make a collective voice heard. Although it concerns me that it is unclear as to how popular comments will be sent to the White House and the President, it could be just another way to communicate in mass.

I'm still waiting for my registrations to be verified (personal and blog). Once they are, I will be joining the Blogblast group as well as posting comments on issues of concern to me - just to see if there is any impact. But, until then, I guess the best thing to do is to continue to use the electronic venues currently available via the White House and President to get a message "delivered" directly.

Once again - I do apologize. I really thought I'd "struck gold".

Obama if you are reading this: just know you are the only leader I would follow. I hope I can write that again in 5 years time.

Is Obama the only true leader to enter the political arena in 60 years?
