Sojourner's Place

c'mon now lt. dan, you need a rest!

Posted by SjP in

This was Lt. Dan's response to the news that his good friend Colin Powell had decided to endorse That One.

I’m also very pleased to have the endorsement of four former secretaries of state, Secretaries (Henry) Kissinger, (James) Baker, (Larry) Eagleburger and (Alexander) Haig. And I’m proud to have the endorsement of well over 200 retired Army generals and admirals.

Lt. Dan, didn't your Momma tell you to watch what you let come out of your mouth? You know you wanted - no needed - that Powell endorsement! And now you trying to minimize it by saying that you got Kissinger, Baker, Eagleburger, and Haig and a whole bunch of other old dudes as endorsements? C'mon now!!

But, since you went there, let's look at your SoS endorsements:

Henry Kissinger, who while serving as Tricky Dick's (can you say Watergate) SoS, gave Argentina the “green light” to continue its reign of terror. Which, by the way, included the mass killings, “disappearances” and torture that went on for several years and claimed the lives of some 30,000 Argentines. Source

James Baker, who served as SoS for Bush 1, recused himself from any matter "that has direct and predictable effect upon the price of domestic oil and gas". The same James Baker who while Treasury Secretary, restored two-thirds of the tax breaks which were to be eliminated for oil producers - allowing the JR Ewings of the world to keep at least $5 billion. Source

Larry Eagleburger, who served as SoS for Bush 1 from December 8, 1992 to January 19, 1993. 'Nuff said? Source

Alexander Haig, now 84 years old who was ousted as SoS following the failed assassination attempt on then President Reagan. This is the very same Alexander Haig who forgot that SoSes are 4th in line to the Oval Office. They are ONLY sworn into office if something were to happen to the President, the Vice President, the Speaker of the House, AND the President Pro Tempor of the Senate. Then, and only then, could he rightfully utter the words, "I am in control, here."

And you, Lt. Dan take issue with Powell’s assessment that Obama is ready to lead? C'mon now, Lt. Dan! You obviously need a rest. So why don't you suspend your campaign, take some meds, go on a vacation for about 17 days. I guarantee you'll feel much better and then you'll have the strength to get back at it and win this election!

Obliged to you for hearing me,
and now old SjP ain't got nothin' more to say...
