14 sojourners hollin' back

SJP,
I cannot begin to explain how much I love Miss Yvette's, I mean Chaka Khan's, voice. I've told the story before. When I was about 11 or 12 no one, I mean no one, couldn't tell me I was not Chaka's look alike.

I've posted her before so I decided to go with Stephanie Mills, another powerhouse.

Happy OSF!

I love this woman!! I didn't post her because I think I've done her twice already, But Lord have Mercy, she was "The Woman"!!! Greta choice!
I think the only song of hers that I don't like is "I feel For You".
happy OSF!

Ms. Chaka! A true original, a true diva...she could teach these young singers a lesson indeed!

Enjoy your weekend, SjP!

Happy OSF Everyone! I tried not to post Chaka because I posted her for my first OSF when I didn't know what the theme was so I just posted my all time favorite song. Thought about Gladys, Aretha, even Valerie Simpson. All great and I do really love each of them. But, kept coming back to my Girl! I realized that she IS my all time favorite. She got me on her very first cut "Tell Me Something Good" and I been there ever since! She got the soul and the funk all rolled up into one. And ya'll know that I'm like me some "real" old school soul and funk!

Much obliged for stopping by! Happy OSF!

Chaka Khan ALL DAY LONG! You can never have enough. That woman has a set of pipes that no one can ever duplicate.

Chaka is my girl! She has truly had a wonderful career. My fave from her is Sweet Thing. Although I love Mary's version, that's still Chaka's song.

Happy O.S.F.!

She surely has some pipes on her.

Have a great weekend. I'll be passing along the gratious award soon.

In light and love

There are so many, I didn't post my favorites because I knew someone would pick some of them out for me. I don't even know who my favorite is because it changes from year to year. I love Chaka Khan and think she my be number 1, but she has some stiff competition from Anita Baker.

Love her new album!!!

SjP,

Happy Friday to you Queen!

Good choice~Ms. Sweet Thing herself!

Have a good weekend.

I'm glad she is one of the women from the "damned good music" days that stayed in the limelight (somewhat). Chaka still does live performances and I wish more of the ladies on our lists would.

Happy OSF! Chaka Khan ... Rufus ... ahhh, the pleasant memories of a sister with a serious voice. Thank you for sharing these three songs with us today...

Thank you for visiting my OSF post this week showcasing Anita Baker.

peace, Villager

I remember hearing Chaka's music with adults as a kid and liking it. Still do!
