I'm at a lost for words on this! The video speaks for itself. The article about this despicable act and these despicable people appears below! But let me WARN you! This video is sick and not for ANYONE whose stomach upsets easily!
Forced to eat meat mixed with garlic and urine, cleaners at a South African university are going through their "initiation" process. Participating in beer-downing competitions, races and mock rugby games, if the black workers are sufficiently entertaining, they go away at the end of the day with a bottle of whisky.
This is what happened at the University of the Free State in Bloemfontein in central South Africa last September, when five elderly black cleaners were filmed completing the humiliating tasks. On Tuesday (26. Feb) the video of the events surfaced on the internet, causing outrage across the country. Now, the four victimisers are facing criminal charges, and mass protests are taking the country by storm.

Sojourner's Place
I received this today from a friend and thought I'd share it with you. . .
A group of white people were fed up with African Americans, so they joined together and wished themselves away. They passed through a deep dark tunnel and emerged in sort of a twilight zone where there is an America without black people.
At first these white people breathed a sigh of relief. At last, they said, No more crime, drugs, violence and welfare. All of the blacks have gone! Then suddenly, reality set in. The 'NEW AMERICA ' is not America at all-only a barren land.
1. There are very few crops that have flourished because the nation was built on a slave-supported system.
2. There are no cities with tall skyscrapers because Alexander Mils, a black
man, invented the elevator, and without it, one finds great difficulty reaching higher floors.
3. There are few if any cars because Richard Spikes, a black man, invented
the automatic gearshift, Joseph Gambol, also black, invented the Super Charge
System for Internal Combustion Engines, and Garrett A. Morgan, a black man, invented the traffic signals.
4. Furthermore, one could not use the rapid transit system because its procurer
was the electric trolley, which was invented by another black man, Albert R. Robinson.
5. Even if there were streets on which cars and a rapid transit system could
operate, they were cluttered with paper because an African American, Charles Brooks, invented the street sweeper.
6. There were few if any newspapers, magazines and books because John Love invented the pencil sharpener, William Purveys invented the fountain pen, Lee Barrage invented the Type Writing Machine and W. A. Love invented the Advanced Printing Press. They were all, you guessed it, Black.
7. Even if Americans could write their letters, articles and books, they would not have been transported by mail because William Barry invented the Postmarking and Canceling Machine, William Purveys invented the Hand Stamp and Philip Downing invented the Letter Drop.
8. The lawns were brown and wilted because Joseph Smith invented the Lawn Sprinkler and John Burr the Lawn Mower.
9. When they entered their homes, they found them to be poorly ventilated and poorly heated. You see, Frederick Jones invented the Air Conditioner and Alice Parker the Heating Furnace. Their homes were also dim. But of course, Lewis Lattimer later invented the Electric Lamp, Michael Harvey invented the lantern, and Granville T. Woods invented the Automatic Cut off Switch. Their homes were also filthy because Thomas W. Steward invented the Mop and Lloyd P. Ray the Dust Pan.
10. Their children met them at the door-barefooted, shabby, motley and unkempt. But what could one expect? Jan E. Matzelinger invented the Shoe Lacing Machine, Walter Sammons invented the Comb, Sarah Boone invented the Ironing Board, and George T. Samon invented the Clothes Dryer.
11. Finally, they were resigned to at least have dinner amidst all of this turmoil. But here again, the food had spoiled because another Black Man, John Standard invented the refrigerator.
Now, isn't that something? What would this country be like without the contributions of Blacks, as African-Americans? Martin Luther King, Jr. said, 'by the time we leave for work, Americans have depended on the inventions from the minds of Blacks.'
Black history includes more than just slavery, Frederick Douglass, Martin Luther King, Jr ., Malcolm X, and Marcus Garvey & W.E.B. Dubois.

Did what? Catch what? Who is she? Well, not to sound like a Hillary-hater - but. . .
In her very sly and conniving why, she was successful in calling for Obama to reject and denounce Minister Farrakhan's endorsement. Many folks might say that she was right in "forcing" this issue. That she was right to help "bring" this endorsement to the forefront. Because after all, we all know that she would NEVER knowingly or willingly seek the endorsement, recognition, or support from ANYONE like Farrakhan and/or anyone who associates with him.
But yet, Senator Clinton did not refuse to appear on the Tavis Smiley Show or to speak at the State of the Black Union or to allow her husband to sell his book latest book on the Covenant with Black America website. And we all know that Tavis Smiley has not - will not - and has never been asked by the Clintons or even PBS to renounce, reject, or dismiss his affiliation, endorsement, or recognition of Minister Farrakhan - because he (Farrakhan) has regularly appear at or on both!
So once again, Senator Clinton has played (some of) us like a harp. And she did it so well. And for your efforts, you were a no-cost (literally and figuratively) forum to campaign at the expense of African Americans! Like I said! She did it again!

I recently (cyberspaced-)met LaLa, a single mother, looking for a group and discussions that addressed the issues and concerns impacting single black parents. LaLa became a member of the Sojourner's Place, 2 group. Unfortunately, SP2 has not really taken off and the discussions envisioned to take place in this group didn't quite meet LaLa's needs. But over the past couple of weeks, LaLa and I have kept in touch giving each other pointers and advise on blogging.
Last night, I received an email from LaLa in which she gave me the links to her new blog and group specifically dedicated to single black parents! Her blog is a beautiful testimony of her desire and commitment to the black family and our black children.
Being new to this "blogging thing", I certainly had no idea of the possibilities resulting from bwb (blogging while black). While I have found Sojourner's Place to be both a cathartic and exhilarating endeavor for me personally - I have found it to truly be a place to connect and network with others just trying to make it and survive. Others just like LaLa! Therefore, I am really please to introduce to you:
Single Black Parents Lounge
A group dedicated to mature single black mothers and fathers raising their children alone with little or no support from the other parent. This is a place where you can ask for advice, give advice, let out some frustrations and share your experiences with other single parents who can relate.
Living Life as a Single Black Parent
An online support group dedicated to single black mothers & fathers. A place where single parents can unite in a friendly and drama free environment.
If you're a single black parent - or know a single black parent, you'll want to bookmark these two wonderful sites created just for you. I'm sure you'll be happy you did!

For the last 2 days, every newscast across the country has shown clips of Hillary expressing extreme outrage over campaign literature being distributed by the Obama campaign. As the matriarch she purports to be, Hillary scolded Barack as if he were a 10 year old being taken to the woodshed!
Might I remind the Good Senator from New York who would be Queen, matriarchs are to lead by example. So I wonder, if Senator Clinton will - at the beginning of the Ohio debate this Tuesday and before she lights into Obama with all her "new-found" ammunition -
1. Apologize to the great people of New Orleans, the State of the Black Union attendees, and the millions of African-Americans who watch the State of the Black Union for neglecting to tell us exactly what she's done politically or personally to provide assistance to the Katrina and Rita victims? Was it 5 mill? SHAME ON YOU!
2. Apologize to the American people for "Xeroxing" HER speeches after surely realizing that she has used words and phrases very similar to those used by John Edwards and former President Clinton - oops, I mean Bill? SHAME ON YOU, HILLARY CLINTON!
3. Explain why she speaks with a different tone and almost favorably about her Democratic opponent when her audience is 99.9% African-American - but she close to vicious in the presence of mainstream media? Did she think that we wouldn't notice? SHAME ON YOU, HILLARY CLINTON!
4. Explain how or why she found it necessary to draw analogies between George W. and Barack Obama? Didn't she condemn Obama recently for not speaking negatively of the Reagan administration? SHAME! SHAME! SHAME ON YOU, HILLARY CLINTON!
Shame on you Hillary Clinton! You speak with fork-tongue! You may be free, white, and 21 but that gives you no right - no right at all - to continue with these backroom politics!! Nobody believes you anymore! But more importantly - nobody trusts you anymore!
Even if she is able to steal the nomination - I will STILL vote for Barack Obama as a write-in candidate. Because Hillary's tactics are despicable! See for yourself! Read Hillary Clinton Mocks Barack Obama During Campaign Rally and make sure you watch the video provided by the Huntington Post via CNN today!!
SHAME ON YOU, SHAME ON YOU, HILLARY CLINTON!

I have watched the State of the Black Union for many years. This is the first time that it has drawn the national attention we see today. No doubt the pundits will report on who showed and who did not for a number of days. But what is really interesting is the fact that, to date, I've not heard ANYONE talk about the COVENANT.
The question here is what, if any impact, will this year's State of the Black Union have on the democratic nomination and more importantly the election in November.
What do you think?

What Is ColorOfChange.org?
ColorOfChange.org exists to strengthen Black America's political voice. Our goal is to empower our members—Black Americans and our allies—to make government more responsive to the concerns of Black Americans and to bring about positive political and social change for everyone.
We were heart-broken and outraged by the catastrophe that followed Hurricane Katrina. And we were devastated to realize that no African-American organization or coalition had the capacity to respond on the necessary scale.
Hurricane Katrina made it clear that our lack of a political voice has life-and-death consequences. With no one to speak for them, hundreds of thousands of people—largely Black, poor, and elderly—were left behind to die. But it wasn't just Black folks. Poor, sick, and elderly people of every color were abandoned too. We are not alone, and when we work to protect Black lives and interests, we do the same for all who have been left behind in political silence.
ColorOfChange.org is comprised of Black folks from every economic class, as well as those of every color who seek to help our voices be heard. Our members are united behind a simple, powerful pledge: we will do all we can to make sure all Americans are represented, served, and protected—regardless of race or class.

Oh my! How can we possibly trust a man who would be President whose words are not original? How can we trust a man who would be President who weaves a tangled web of deceit only to convince us that he's doing the right thing? How can we be lead by a man who would be President who knowingly commits an egregious act and attempts to explain it away? Surely such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the American people. Will it? Probably not when it comes to Obama - because now the rules are about to change.
I recently saw a news cast regarding President Bush's most recent - and last (thank goodness) - State of the Union Address. According to the broadcast, the speech took several weeks to write and perfect. But, you know, I don't recall President Bush - or any former President for that matter - attribute the words spoken during the address to his team of speech writers. In fact - they received NO CREDIT AT ALL. The President's words were not original to him even though they were what he believed.
One of the primary themes or issues surrounding the Presidential Campaign on all fronts is Iraq. Whether to stay in, get out entirely, or get out on a schedule. But one thing that is not an issue or theme (except for Obama) is that we NEVER SHOULD have gone to war in the first place. The American people and Congress were sold a bill of goods that Bush knew was untrue so that he could forge a legacy of being a war-time President.
At let us not forget "I did not have sex with that woman..." resulting in a new presidential definition of "sex". Surely, I need not go any further - but remember Iran-Contra - Watergate - Halliburton - the Bay of Pigs? No need to go on.
So now all the pundits are ALL up in arms because Obama "stole" phrases from speech given by a friend. GIVE ME A BREAK!! Just call it what it is. . .there are Americans who would rather "get bit in the a*s by a snaggle-toothed mule" than to elect a man who would be President who is Black!

NOT!! When I received an email today proclaiming the klan's endorsement of Obama, I freaked out - probably just like you if you're seeing this for the first time. But, have no fear (I think), the klan hasn't "endorsed" Obama - they just don't want Hillary.
The United Kingdom's Daily Squib "broke" this story with pictures and everything! Therefore most folks circulating this "news" don't realize that the Daily Squib,as described on its website "is a satirical publication and should therefore not be taken too fu**ing seriously". Don't believe me? Read for yourself.
But...wouldn't it be interesting if it were true? Don't worry, though, unless you hear it confirmed by FOX News - they may have inside information!

Had a chance to read the recent post entitled Hillary's Scarlett O'Hara Act? Hope so, because it puts this post into some sort of context.
Why is it that "they" can cry - get upset - even rock the boat and the ocean separates just to make "them" happy. But "you" oh lord! You better not because then your labeled as paranoid - too aggressive - not a team player. It never ceases to amaze me that irregardless of MY job description my duties remain that of "mammy". Clean up after. Nurture. Take care of. Train. Nurse. Dance. Scratch my head. And oh yes - DON'T MAKE WAVES!
Is it me? It just seems to me that "they" can cry - and as a result get a raise and promoted. Us?. . .well, if we do we might need to start looking for another place of employment.
My hurt and my feelings are no less important than my white counterparts - and I'm tired of them being minimized and marginalized. In this day and age you would think that the mammy-syndrome would be long gone. But I guess not. But unlike Rhett Butler - - Miss Scarlett, frankly I DO give a damn!

There's been a lot of talk about women and their choices since Super Tuesday, when African American women overwhelmingly voted for Sen. Barack Obama, while white women picked Sen. Hillary Clinton. Some pundits automatically concluded that "race trumped gender" among black women. I hate this analysis because it relegates black women to junior-partner status in political struggles. It is not that simple. A lot of people have tried to gently explain the divide, so I'm just going to put this out there: Sister voters have a beef with white women like Clinton that is both racial and gendered. It is not about choosing race; it is about rejecting Hillary's Scarlett O'Hara act.
Black women voters are rejecting Hillary Clinton because her ascendance is not a liberating symbol. Her tears are not moving. Her voice does not resonate. Throughout history, privileged white women, attached at the hip to their husband's power and influence, have been complicit in black women's oppression. Many African American women are simply refusing to play Mammy to Hillary.
The loyal Mammy figure, who toiled in the homes of white people, nursing their babies and cleaning and cooking their food, is the most enduring and dishonest representation of black women. She is a uniquely American icon who first emerged as our young country was trying to put itself back together after the Civil War. The romanticism about this period is a bizarre historical anomaly that underscores America's deep racism: The defeated traitors of the Confederacy have been allowed to reinterpret the war's battles, fly the flag of secession over state houses, and raise monuments to those who fought to tear down the country. Southern white secessionists were given the power to rewrite history even as America's newest citizens were relegated to forced agricultural peonage, grinding urban poverty and new forms segregation and racial terror.
Mammy was a central figure in this mythmaking and she was perfect for the role. The Mammy myth allowed Americans in the North and South to ignore the brutality of slavery by claiming that black women were tied to white families through genuine bonds of affection. Mammy justified past enslavement and continuing oppression.
Privileged, Southern white women were central in creating and propagating the Mammy myth. In 1923, the United Daughters of the Confederacy were nearly successful in lobbying Congress to erect a statue on federal land to honor "the memory of the faithful colored mammies of the South." The desire to memorialize Mammy reveals how Southern white women reveled in the subordinate role of their darker peers. These black women were vulnerable to the sexual and labor exploitation of slaveholders and household employers. These women masked their true thoughts and personalities in order to gain a modicum of security for themselves and their families. The Mammy monument was meant to display black women as the faithful, feisty, loyal servants of white domesticity.
In the face of the Mammy myth, real black women spoke for themselves against the monument. It was substantial, sustained opposition from organized African American women and the black press that killed the Mammy monument proposal.
Media have cast the choice in the current election as a simple binary between race and gender. But those who claim that black women are ignoring gender issues by voting for Barack just don't get it. Hillary cannot have black women's allegiance for free. Black women will not be relegated to the status of supportive Mammy, easing the way for privileged white women to enter the halls of power.
Black feminist politics is not simple identity politics. It is not about letting brothers handle the race stuff, or about letting white women dominate the gender stuff. The black woman's fight is on all fronts. Sisters resist the ways that black male leaders try to silence women's issues and squash female leadership. At the same time, black women challenge white women who want to claim black women's allegiance without acknowledging the realities of racism. They will not be drawn into any simple allegiance that refuses to account for their full humanity and citizenship.
Black women want out of the war. Black women need health insurance. Black women need decent schools for their children. Black women need a strong economy that creates jobs. Black women need help caring for their aging parents. Black women want a Democratic win in the fall. Sisters chose Barack on Tuesday because they believe he can deliver these things, and that is much more empowering than just having a woman in the White House.

A VICTIM of bullying, “Ms X” left a Tees Valley company with no alternative employment prospects. But the experience ultimately made her stronger.
“I didn’t even realise that I was being bullied until after I’d left the company. It was done in such a discreet, clever way, at regular intervals over a lengthy period of time.
“The management operated a blame culture and would never accept responsibility, always shifting the focus on to the employee.
“The worst bit about the bullying was being humiliated in public. This would happen on a regular basis, sometimes as often as once a week.
“The bullying affected my health. I suffered from high blood pressure, couldn’t sleep at night, my weight increased and I used to cry a lot. I took a couple of days off sick with stress. In fact, I’d go as far as to say that the experience changed my whole personality.
“In hindsight, I wish I hadn’t accepted so readily my employer’s explanations of certain situations. Quite often they would come up with reasons that simply didn’t add up. Rather than challenge them, I’d just accept it for the sake of keeping the peace.
“I also wish that I’d been more aware of employment law. I used to read about people who had taken their employer to tribunal but never thought it would happen to me.
“Looking back, perhaps my behaviour did influence their treatment of me. I’m a naturally talkative individual but my boss rarely appreciated my input. Once I was described as a disruptive influence and was moved away from the person I was sitting next to at the time.
“On another occasion I was hauled in to a formal meeting for sending an email to my friend about a work colleague. It really was like being back at school.
“I was so miserable that I decided to leave without another job to go to. It made no financial sense but I knew I’d feel happier in myself.
“Fortunately, after doing some temporary work I received a few offers of work and now I run my own business. I probably wouldn’t have made such a bold step if I hadn’t left my previous employment.
“A good thing has come out of this experience. Thanks to my former employer, I’ve become a much stronger person and nobody would ever bully me again.”

Remember people fought and died for a right that we often take so lightly. Those who came before us would have jumped at the chance to cast their vote for a candidate - any candidate! And even with that chance - would never have dream or phantom that their choice would or could be more of the same "rich" "white" "men"!
Tomorrow, no matter the outcome - we make history! Every pollster, every campaigner, every pundit, and every media outlet will be watching to see just how we - African-American Women - vote! This is both a challenge and an honor - neither of which should be taken lightly.
Vote your heart. . .vote your conviction. . .vote for the candidate of your choice. . .JUST VOTE! And in doing so, remember those who made it possible.
Holla Back! - but VOTE, first!

Colin Powell: I'm "Taking Joy" In Obama's Success
The Huntington Post - January 7, 2008
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell appeared Monday on PBS's season premier of "Tavis Smiley" to share his views about the Barack Obama phenomenon, as well as recent global developments, including the assassination of Pakistan opposition leader Benazir Bhutto, the military situation in Iraq and social unrest in KenyaPowell also discussed his successful recovery after undergoing prostate cancer treatment. On the eve of the New Hampshire primaries, Powell reflected on his experience eight years ago when faced with the decision of whether or not to run for presidentHe told Smiley that he is "taking joy" in the Illinois senator's success, and encouraged Americans to "enjoy this moment where a person like Barack Obama can knock down all of these old barriers that people thought existed with respect to the opportunities that are available to African Americans." The first African American to hold titles such as National Security Advisor, Secretary of State and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, Powell offered this advice to the Democratic presidential candidate who may be accomplishing yet another first: "This argument about him not being black enough, that's just absolute nonsenseHe is putting himself forward not as a black man but as an American man who wants to be president of the United States of America ...
